NORTON---Donald J. Ruther Sr., 68, passed away March 3, 2017. Don was born in Barberton where he was a life resident of the Barberton and Norton area. He graduated from Archbishop Hoban High School in 1966 retired from the Babcock and Wilcox Co. after 46 years. He loved hunting, fishing and four-wheeling with his family. Preceded in death by his parents Adolph and Mary Alice; and father-in-law Denver Sinnett; he is survived by his loving wife of 49 1/2 years, Phyllis K.; children Donald Jr. (Jody) of Norton; Carolyn Lozier of Barberton; Connie Lozier of Norton and John (Kimberly) of Norton; grandchildren Alec Ruther, Cassandra Ruther, Kiersten Lozier; Tyler and Rylee Ruther; ; Carrie (Dave) Karr and Karli (Shawn) Heinmiller; great-grandchildren Chloe, Cameryn, Katalina, Kesi, Kendee and Kenzie; brother Carl (Cathy) of Barberton; sister Sandra (Edward) Emerick of Wisconsin; mother-in-law Aribell Sinnett; and numerous nieces and nephews. Calling Hours will be held on Monday, March 6, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. Funeral Service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Deacon Robin Adair officiating. Per Don’s wishes cremation will follow after the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
