I am a 1969 graduate of Firestone High and wanted to be a math teacher. Mr. Nutter spent as much time as he could with me trying to help me understand calculus. I never completely got it, but not for the lack of trying to teach me on his part.

Hi Mo, We were so sorry to here about your dad, and equally sorry that we didn't find out in time to attend and see you. Since we've been out of touch, we weren't aware he was battling the cancer. What an accomplished and influential man he was. What a legacy he left. what a legacy you are leaving, and the ripples continue on into eternity. I hope you and your family are doing well.

Our heart felt condolences for the loss of your beloved father Don Nutter, who has left a legacy of faith, loyalty, courage and commitment through the lives of his siblings. We have had the blessing of knowing Art, Kathleen and their children in the past and know that they have always overcome every seemingly insurmountable obstacle with faith and prayer. They committed many years of their lives befriending and supporting disabled orphans in Romania with their time, finances and prayer! (Many humanitarian visits as well). Our understanding of Don's compassion and faith has been exemplified through the lives of Art and his family, so we give thanks and praise to a God of compassion, mercy and love who has sown the "Seeds of Hope"in the lives of his siblings, which have impacted our lives and the lives of young people acrossed the Globe!
May you rest In peace In the bossom of our lord Don, knowing that you and your family's Faith Journey has left an indelible Mark on the souls of so many!
W/Love and gratefulness to God for the living testimony of Don Nutter.... John and Virginia Haskell

Perhaps what I admire most about Don was his strong moral and ethical character, traits he obviously passed on to his children. A committed educator, he always had the best interest of Norton Schools during his 23-year tenure as a school board member. My sympathies to his wife Jan, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I will always have a special place in my heart for the three children of his that I had the pleasure of teaching, Bernie; Rhonda; and Martha.

Next year I will celebrate the 50th anniversary of my high school graduation. Mr. Nutter was one of my favorite teaches. I had him for Algebra II and Calculus. I always remember him telling us that math was about accumulating a bag of tricks and knowing which trick to pull out to solve the problem. To this day, I love numbers games. Thank you Mr. Nutter. Rest in peace.

Dear Nutter Family,
The news of Mr. Nutter's passing is reverberating through Firestone HS former students' social media feeds as he was a highly respected and an extremely effective teacher and mentor to many of us. I still remember my challenging days in those quantitative reasoning classes and am always grateful for Mr. Nutter's patient support and humor. Getting through four HS years of math was challenging, but affected my college and career path very positively. Mr. Nutter will always remain a strong and bright light in my life.
My deep condolences to the Nutter family.
Sincerely, Dr. Kennedy

I am a Firestone High School graduate (class of 1974) and Mr. Nutter was my math teacher for two years, the second year being the calculus class. I am truly sorry to hear of his passing. He was by far my favorite and most memorable high school math teacher. He effortlessly commanded our respect and attention. I still think of him.

I had the pleasure of serving with Don Nutter on the Norton Board of Education in the 90's. Don was not only my mentor, but also my friend. The district was very turbulent in that era, and Don always brought a stabilizing voice in the midst of the storm.

Don Nutter exemplified all the virtues we admire. He was always honest and straight forward. He loved his wife and children. He loved his country and served it honorable in the military. He loved education; earning a masters degree and teaching math for many years. He loved the Norton School District; serving over 20 on its board. He loved God and his church.

The world lost a good man this week. My deepest sympathies to Jan, Maureen, Scott and the entire Nutter family.

to the whole Nutter family from the whole Totten family our hearts are breaking at the news of Mr Nutter's passing. As difficult as this is, to lose the GREAT man that he was, we all know, thanks to our faith, that he is home......visiting those long gone and I'm betting he said howdy to my mom, an angel in her own right now, and an old family friend. On May 18, 2015 I went up to see mr and mrs as I had heard from my sister Kathy that mister had cancer, and with much trepidation I made the journey to visit....and I am SO GLAD I DID.....holy macaroni....what an awesome couple and such a good stroll down memory lane......it produced this.....written in 2015.....May 19th to be exact....

The Nutters and Tottens, to me, have always been like peanut butter and jelly.....
or macaroni and cheese for those of you with nut alergies

Two large families that have been connected through time because of location, circumstances and two of the most AWESOME matriarchs the modern world will EVER know.

When I think of the Nutter family I think of strength, happiness, hard work, perseverance and family.

Family, faith and love says it all with this clan.....yet I can't call him Don and her Jan

Nope.....it's Mr Nutter and Mrs. Nutter thank you very much

So, rest in peace, Mr. Nutter We are glad your suffering is over and thank you for touching our lives. You have meant the world to us

back to now.....may you all find peace in the things that he taught you and the memories that you all have.....I have one or two....and they will be with me to the end.....he was an incredible guy.....and he will surely be missed.....peace and love to you all...

Thanks, Steve. Your uncle/brother Bill and I were very close. He gave me my first job, helping on a Beacon Journal paper route. I also learned from Bill to not ever let the opportunity to visit someone ever pass you by, when Bill died in the hospital and I did not visit him prior to his death.

So cool to see your note, Steve. Yes, the Totten and Nutter families are closely linked. Bill gave me my first break in business when he gave me 25 papers to deliver at age 9, when the minimum age was 10. I learned a hard lesson when I did not see Bill in the hospital while he was still alive. Hal was my confirmation sponsor when he was a seminarian. Kathy was my classmate. Patty and I see each other at Mass from time to time. Love to all of you.

My Dad received a Eucharistic miracle. We are all witnesses to it, and with God’s grace, must continue to share the Good News.
