BARBERTON---Ann M. Gerbec, (nee Polacek), 85, passed away at her residence on February 26, 2019.
Ann was born in Phillips, Wisconsin and was a Barberton resident most of her life. She worked for the Barberton City Schools for 16 years as a cook at Highland Jr. High. Ann was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church where she was very active in the Altar Society and organized the baking, funeral luncheons and many dinners over the years. She was also a member of the Barberton Band Boosters for over 40 years where she volunteered in various ways most notably being her involvement in Bingo, chaperoning at band camps and taking care of the uniforms.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 59 yrs. Bernard Sr.; parents John and Marie; brother Joseph; and sisters Mary and Helen. She is survived by her sons Bernie (Sandra) of SC, Tom (Debbie) of Manchester and John (Susan) of Mogadore; daughters Barbara (Jim) Kulton of Cuyahoga Falls, Betty England of TX, Cathy (Mike) Baughman of SD and Margie (Dale) Ezzell of SC; 17 grandchildren; several step grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Rita Polacek; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1263 Shannon Ave., Norton. Fr. Robert Jackson celebrant. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours Sunday from 3:30 to 5:30 pm at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church or the St.Vincent de Paul Society at Prince of Peace.
