Dolores Lamm Obituary

Dolores Eliza (Prisco) Lamm, passed peacefully on October 14, 2019 at Tapestry Senior Care in Wickliffe, OH.

She was born February 28th, 1926 to Tarquinio and Delight (DiAngelo) Prisco in Ashtabula.  Dolores married John J. Lamm on February 21, 1946.  They were blessed with 55 years together and raised five children.  She was devoted to her faith and family.

Along with her husband, she was actively involved in Saint John High School functions and Booster Club.  She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and also a member of the Altar & Rosary Society.  Annually, she and John volunteered for the parish church festival.

Dolores worked for the family business, Turk The Tailor, in downtown Ashtabula, until 1972. Upon retirement, she provided grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s child care. She was a skilled baker and thoroughly enjoyed holiday baking with her daughters and grandchildren.  Her cut-out cookies and gingerbread men will never be forgotten.   

For more than a decade, Dolores and John wintered in Port Charlotte, FL where cherished friendships remain to this day.

Dolores’s passing commences the end of an era for the family.  She will be remembered not only as the loving and encouraging family matriarch, but one who always lent a helping hand, and offered reassuring words and compassionate support.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband John, son Jon, brother Anthony Prisco, as well as sisters-in-law Florence Prisco and Lucille Lamm and brother-in-law Anthony Lamm (Edith); She is survived by her children Diane Ashley of Barberton, OH, Karen (Wayne) Umholtz of Mentor, OH, Gerald (Tara) Lamm of Concord, OH, and Roberta (Bradley) Best of The Villages, FL.; daughter-in-law JoAnn Holtz of Erie, PA; Grandchildren, include Lori Lamm (Michael) Riley of Saybrook, OH, Amy Jo Lamm of Erie, PA, Christopher (Frances) Silva of Barberton, OH,  Bradley (Nicole) Best of Madison, OH, Kristie (Jarrod) Dixon of Ashtabula, OH, Justin Umholtz of Willoughby, OH, Matthew (Sarah) Umholtz of Chardon, OH, John Lamm, of Concord, OH, Gregory (Marie) Best of Jefferson, OH,  Stephen (Ashley) Best of Canal Fulton, OH, Julie (Steve) Arnold of Akron, OH, and Ashley (Thomas) Follet of Wickliffe, OH. Dolores is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2019 at Our Lady Peace of Parish, Mt. Carmel Church, 1200 East 21st St., Ashtabula, OH 44004. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling Hours from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the John & Dolores Lamm Scholarship Fund c/o St. John School or Hospice of the Western Reserve.
