BARBERTON---Edward L. King, 66, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, members of Crossroads Hospice and the caring staff of Greenfield Estates. After graduating from Copley High, Ed served in the Navy as an electrician’s mate on the USS America, an aircraft carrier that took him to many parts of the world. He especially enjoyed time in England and Spain. When his service was up, he returned home to the Barberton area where he worked for 20 years as a machinist at B & C. He was often seen riding his bike, even though he had a car. Simple things seemed to make him happy, radio talk shows, music, playing checkers, movies and eating pizza. Eddie was easy going and never seemed to be in a hurry. He could roast the “most perfect” hot dog over the campfire no matter how long it took. Preceded in death by his parents Harold Sr. and Celina King; he leaves behind to cherish his memory, brother Harold (Stacy) King Jr., sister Becky (Kim) Honaker, nephew Zach (Ashley) Honaker and many friends and relatives. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Calling Hours ONE HOUR PRIOR to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice or Montrose Brookdale Parkinson’s Group.
