BARBERTON---Lillian S. Hazlett (nee Hanic), 89, passed away peacefully at her residence on January 17, 2018. Lillian was born in Barberton where she was a life resident. She was a graduate of Bowling Green State University where she was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. Lillian worked at P.P.G. and retired as a teacher for the Barberton City Schools after 20 years of service. She was a member of the former Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church and currently a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church. She was active in St. Anne’s Society, the Altar and Rosary Society, Slovak Catholic Sokol Wreath #103, First Catholic Slovak Union #191 and was a dedicated volunteer at Barberton Citizens Hospital in the mammography dept. for over 20 years. Preceded in death by her husband John; brothers Emil and Aloysius; and sisters Mary Evans and Augusta Heim; She is survived by her daughter Mary Jo (Wane) Goss of Barberton; sons John C. Jr. (JoAnne) of Mariottsville, MD, David (Joan) of Lewis Center, OH and Gregory (Kim) of Copley; grandchildren Megan (Jason) Slater, Melanie (Matthew) Sejba and Jackie, Alex, Andrew, Emily, Mariah and Nathan Hazlett; great-grandchildren Liam, Wyatt and Graham Slater and Annie, Maggie, Rachel and Timmy Sejba; brother Edward Hanic of Barberton; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the Morris family and the caring staff at Pleasant Pointe Assisted Living and Summa Hospice. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 204 Sixth St. NW, Barberton. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours Sunday from 3-6 P.M. followed by Rosary at 6 P.M. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton, where prayers will be said on Monday morning at 9:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Barberton Community Foundation, St. Vincent DePaul Fund.
