NORTON---Richard Lovas was born June 17, 1941 in Barberton, Ohio to Michael and Rose (Johanyak) Lovas and lived in Norton. He graduated from Norton High School and received a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Akron. He formerly worked for Babcock & Wilcox in Barberton and, and later, moved to Dallas, Texas to work for Apple Computer. He returned to Norton in 1985 to help his mother care for his ailing father, and he resided there until his passing. During this time, he loved traveling, helped raise his son, and later, helped send his son to college. After retiring, he cared for his mother until her death in 2014. He loved spending time with friends, his family, and grandchildren. He looked forward to Wednesday visits from his son and grandchildren with a football game, kickball, hitting of baseballs and great conversation. He was always busy walking, gardening, tending to his grapes, and making his wine. He always loved to talk about sports, especially the Browns and Indians. Richard was preceded in death by his father Michael and mother Rose. He is survived by his older brother Charles (Katherine) Lovas; his son Christopher (Terri) Lovas; three grandchildren, Christopher DeMoss, Noah Lovas, and Alexander Lovas. Calling hours will be held at SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton from 3 to 5 pm on Saturday, December 22, 2018. Funeral service to celebrate his life on this earth will be held following the calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local Alzheimer’s Society.
