BARBERTON---Rosella M. “Penny” Macko, 96, passed away December 11, 2018 at Pleasant View Health Care Center. She was born in Walhonding, Ohio, Guernsey County, to Michael and Elizabeth Chorney, and moved to Akron at the age of 5. She was one of the first 5 women hired at Goodyear as a Rosie the Riveter during World War ll. She married Hilary (Larry) Macko and after the war moved to Barberton, Ohio. Rosella worked at the family business, Macko Brothers Restaurant and Motel for many years while raising her family. Rosella was a member of the former S.S. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church and was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. She was a lifetime member of Slovak Catholic Sokol Wreath #103 and St. Anne’s Society.

Preceded in death by her husband Larry; son Michael; sisters Anna Bash, Mary Kisha, Agnes Ondas and Betty Jacobs; brother Michael Chorney; infant brother John; 1 step-grandson; and sons-in-law Patrick Doyle and Michael Wickwire. She is survived by her sons, Larry (Jeanne), Greg (Melissa), Paul (Kathryn), Donald (Catherine) and Bob (Carol); daughters, Bernadine Doyle, Kathleen Macko, Margaret Dawson, Jo Ann (Gene) Kondik and Mary Ann (Pete) Janangelo; daughter in law Peg Macko; 30 grandchildren; 4 step- grandchildren; and 31 great -grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Pleasant Pointe and Pleasant View Health Care Center and Summa Hospice for their wonderful care.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 14, 2018 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1263 Shannon Ave., Norton. Fr. Robert Jackson, celebrant. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours Thursday from 4-9 PM at the SILVA – HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton.
