Agnes J. (Hornacek) Sboray

Agnes Sboray, (nee Hornacek), 96, went to heaven to join her beloved husband on December 9, 2024. She was born in Barberton OH, attended Barberton High School, worked at Seiberling Tire and Rubber Co. and was a lifetime member of Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church until it’s closing, where she was a lay minister and served as president of St Anne’s Society. Later in life she and “Lefty” left her childhood home on 16th Street and moved to Copley next to her daughter where they attended Guardian Angels Church. A kind gentle woman, a caretaker to family members and the best babysitter to her grandchildren who lovingly named her “Aubbie.” She was also “Aunt Aggie” to numerous nieces and nephews. Agnes had a sweet smile and a twinkle in her eyes, quietly understanding and insightful. Random people would always come up and speak to her! She loved everything Christmas and a shiny card for every occasion, which she could not throw away! She also never passed up an ice cream outing. Agnes is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Anne Marie and Fred Warmbrodt; granddaughter, Julie (Paul) Taylor; great-grandchildren, Rae, Cam; grandson, Ian (Kelly) Warmbrodt and great-granddaughter Lia. Brother-in-law, John (Karen) Sboray and sister-in-law Marge Sboray. Agnes was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Edward, her parents, Mary and Joseph Hornacek who immigrated from Slovakia and all of her siblings: brothers John (Anne) Hornacek, Joe (Gert) Hornacek and sisters Mary (Steve) Despot, Julie Moyer and infant Florence. Her brothers and sisters in-law Steve (Mary) Sboray, Florence (Ed) Vattila, Dode (Emil) Skafec, Chris (Ray) Smith and Joe Sboray. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 16, 2024 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 1676 S. Cleveland-Massillon Rd., Copley. Fr. Christopher Weber, celebrant. Burial at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Calling Hours, Sunday December 15th from 3-5 p.m. at the Silva-Hostetler Funeral Home, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton.
