ANNA M. SUPPAN (Rudman)

Wife, Mom, G-Ma, GG and Hairstylist

Anne left this place behind to finally Waltz Across Texas in George’s arms once again on July 18, 2026 at the age of 99

She was born at home to Natalia and Stephen Rudman in Barberton, Ohio. Soon they moved and she was raised on a farm in Coventry Twp. but to quote Zsa Zsa Gabor, “The farm life is not for me!”.

Never shying away from work, by the age of 13, she worked at Islay’s Soda Fountain, O.C. Barber mushroom barn and The Lake Theater where she would often sneak her friends in through the back exit door for a free movie. Hey, five cents was five cents!

She was a “Rosie the Riveter” for one day due to being fired for doing a horrible job. She went on to Goodrich as a tenkey punch operator then went on strike. Her true calling hadn’t called just yet.

In the meantime, she met her husband, George, on a blind date. Upon seeing George in the car, she jumped into the seat beside him and claimed him as her own- much to her friend’s dismay. Soon after World War II had ended, she became a Suppan wife for life.

Her true calling arrived when she attended Riggs LeMar Beauty College. What started with her sisters-in-law as her first and only customers soon exploded into a 400+ person clientele with a wait list.

She competed in numerous platform hairstyling competitions and always placed in the top three. This includes the prestigious Bell Cup which you had to win three times in order to receive the cup. Yes, we have the trophy. Mom is very much a legend in her field.

She retired at the age of 90 after sixty plus years of hairstyling but that never stopped her from telling you “Your hair needs help” followed with exactly what you needed to do. We would bet money that when she met Jesus, she told him to sit down and so she could give him an updated look.

Somehow, she even found the time to give birth to three children. Georgianna Lee, Thomas George and Annemarie. With her having so many customers we knew even the shortest trip somewhere was going to be triple the time because of everyone that knew her. Our payoff was to always have the best looking, most up-to-date hair. Thanks Mom!

Mom loved her family, hairdressing, teaching, her customers, playing golf, bowling, Tiger Woods, Casinos, Bingo, The Price Is Right and all Cleveland sports teams. She also loved and carried this poem with her all of the time and now seems to be the time to share it.

Don’t Weep at my Grave

For I am not there

I’ve a date with a butterfly

To dance in the air

I’ll be singing in the sunshine, wild and free

Playing tag with the wind while I’m waiting for thee

She leaves her legacy and a lifetime of memories to her children; Jody Ruther, Tom and Sandi Suppan, Annie Suppan-Duca and Larry Duca Jr. Grandchildren; Carrie and Dave Karr, Karli and Shawn Heinmiller, Heather Suppan, Alec and Alison Ruther, Laurel Suppan and Rachel Backus.
