BARBERTON---Anthony F. Pollak, 94, passed away August 28, 2016 at Summa Barberton Hospital. Tony was born in Barberton where he was a life resident and retired from Mechanical Mold and Machine Co in Akron after 41 years. Tony was an active member of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church and their Holy Name Society. He was also a Fourth Degree Knight for Knights of Columbus Council 1617. Tony was proud to be a Marine Corp Veteran having served during WWII on the U.S.S. South Dakota and in the 2nd Marine Division in the battle of Tarawa. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy in 2009. He is survived by his daughter Michele Blaho of Barberton; and many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 4022 Johnson Rd., Norton. Rev. James Maloney celebrant. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Calling Hours Wednesday from 6-8 P.M. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Foundation, 1236 Ginger St., Virginia Beach, VA 23453.
