Bruce Berlin, 70, passed away Friday, November 18, 2022. He was a loving husband to Karla for 28 years. They were definitely soulmates. There wasn't a single thing that they couldn't conquer together. After graduating from Barberton High School in '71, Bruce joined the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed in The Philippines and served his country for 5 years, before deciding to pursue a career in law enforcement. During his 18 years as a Barberton police officer, he climbed the ranks to detective and joined the drug task force. Bruce was not shy about taking risks. After retirement, he served as a bailiff for the Barberton Municipal Court. Bruce liked to live life large. He was happiest in his giant garage. A savvy mechanic, there wasn't a thing that he couldn't fix. He loved to throw big parties, happily cooking up a buffet for dozens of people. He was well-known in the Barberton community for his prime rib and seafood. Bruce was a man of many passions. He was an avid fisherman, taking his boat and motorhome to Lake Erie or elsewhere in the country. He surrounded himself with loved ones, always bringing Karla, his father, grandson Bryce, and his nephews and nieces, to travel wherever his heart led him. Bruce Berlin is a true legend. He gave so much to so many. He will be remembered in many ways: the best husband, grandpa, brother, chef, fishing buddy, mechanic, and so much more. We're happy to know that Bruce is currently enjoying fishing with dad, cooking with mom and grandma, and meeting up with Nicole. The best way to remember Bruce is to follow his example. Be kind and giving to others, always putting them before yourself.
