Carol Russell, 81, of New Franklin, Ohio passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. The old saying is that it takes a village to raise a child. But, it takes one Carol Russell to feed and care for an entire village. She always offered an open heart, kindness, and a full plate of food to family and friends. Most importantly to her, she was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother.
Carol was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia on January 27, 1941. Carol was known by all of her friends as Carrie. She graduated from Roosevelt Wilson High School in 1959. On July 14, 1962, Carrie married Jim Russell, the boy who grew up a few doors down from her own home, and became the unquestionable love of her life. They celebrated happiness for over 60 years.
Carrie and Jim were blessed with three wonderful children, Kim Russell, Diane Onken and James Russell Jr. (J.R.). She loved and adored her three grandchildren Courtney, Madeleine, and Tre with all her heart. They brought her so much love and laughter. She was happy to have a wonderful daughter-in-law Monica (JR’s wife) and son-in-law Rick (Diane’s husband). Carrie loved her brother-in-law Larry Russell and sister-in-law Sharon Rogers, as if they were her own brother and sister. Larry’s wife Mary was very special to her, and she appreciated that she always kept Carrie in her prayers. Carrie’s passing was preceded by her mother, Mary Helen Snyder, her father, Bob Snyder, her brother, Johnny Snyder, and her aunt (who was like an older sister) Susan Randall.
She wanted to thank all the neighbors and friends for their thoughts and prayers. She encouraged everyone to remember her by enjoying a good family meal.
