Christine J. Zalar

BARBERTON---Christine J. Zalar, 100, passed away October 22, 2014. Christine was born in Barberton where she was a life resident. She retired from Louisiana Pacific Company and was a lifetime member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church (formerly Sacred Heart) where she was active in the choir and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Slovene Society KSKJ, the Slovene Pensioners and the Barberton Active Adult Center.


Preceded in death by her husband John; and siblings Joseph Lukezic, Jennie Zupec, Molly Glynn, Millie Vidergar and Anthony Lukezic; and son-in-law Carl Englert; Survivors include her daughters Joanne (Anthony) Weigand, Carol Englert, Patty (Edward) Sowers and Joyce (Norman) Fashing; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1263 Shannon Ave., Barberton. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours Friday from 4-7 P.M. AT THE CHURCH and Saturday One Hour Prior to the Mass AT THE CHURCH. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Prince of Peace or the charity of one's choice.
