“Gone fishing...forever casting memories”
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dale Cameron, 67, of Barberton, Ohio — a man whose life was nothing short of a blessing to all who knew him, leaving an impression on our hearts for generations to come.
Dale was born to Arvella and Jake Cameron in Barberton, Ohio, on January 18, 1958, and lived a purposeful life, concluding his legacy on January 12, 2026. Raised on the east side of Barberton, he attended U.L. Light and graduated from Barberton High School in 1976. During those years, Dale discovered his passion for skilled trades. Along the way, he cultivated an even deeper passion for the woman who would become his wife. After high school, he won Mary’s heart, and their love story was woven with devotion, rich affection, and the kind of spirited banter only soulmates can share — a bond that lasted until her passing in 2012. Dale perfected his craft over the years, working at Republic Steel in Canton for 19 years before spending 23 years with Ford Motor Company, where he counted the days to retirement and cherished every moment with gratitude. Known as a true MacGyver, Dale could do — or fix — anything. He was the one person you could count on at a moment’s notice to solve a crisis. Whether it was repairing a leaky faucet, putting on a roof, or fixing a bulldozer, he always found a solution, though he insisted on doing it his way — a testament to his creativity, determination, and, most of all, his stubbornness. He spent countless summers in the Outer Banks and most winters in the Florida Keys, where he fished, played Euchre, poker, and bingo, and sipped gin and tonics with friends. His wonderfully dry and intricate sense of humor often made you think twice before the laughter hit — or before he had to explain the joke. Dale had a gift for turning strangers into friends and friends into family, transforming fleeting moments into lasting connections. Whether waiting silently in a tree blind or casting a line into his favorite watering hole (or the ocean), he shared his love of hunting and fishing with many. But there was no one in the world he enjoyed spending time with more than his son, Max. Dale found profound happiness in Max’s journey, celebrating every accomplishment with the pride of a father whose greatest legacy was not in possessions, but in the character and successes of his son. Above all, Dale cherished every moment with Max, who was the light of his life. While we will miss Dale’s big heart, quick wit, and uncanny knack for jokes, we take comfort in knowing he is in Heaven trying to fix the unfixable — making Heaven a better place, just as he did here on earth.
Dale is preceded in death by his parents Arvella and Jake Cameron, and his wife Mary (Maurer) Cameron. Melissa Jamison, and Anthony Maurer. He is survived by his devoted son Max Cameron and wife Natalie; his cousins Roger Cameron, Janet Cameron, ; Brothers and Sisters-In-Law, Christina (Thomas) Allen; Peter Maurer; Gina (Jerry) Pramik; Sara (Dale) Hossler; Jack Jamison; Nicholas Maurer; Kurt (Jolene) Maurer; Barth Maurer; Sally (Chris) White; numerous nieces and nephews; along with his cherished friends in the Barberton Ohio area and the Florida Keys.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Silva-Hostetler Funeral Home, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. Memorial Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Fr. David Stavarz, officiating. Private burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.
