Daniel Funari August 21, 1970 – August 20, 2026

Daniel Funari passed away unexpectedly on August 20, 2026, just one day shy of his 56th birthday.

A veteran of the United States Air Force, Daniel lived a life shaped by curiosity, service, and deep connection. More than anything else, he was a devoted son, husband, father, uncle, and friend.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Tricia; their daughter, Emily, and her partner, Johnny; his mother (in-law), Patricia Warner; siblings Jaime Funari (JR) and Michelle Funari; and chosen siblings Andy Weaver (Lisa), and Jennifer LaFleur (Jim); as well as many beloved nephews and nieces.

A devoted explorer of both cosmos and chord, Daniel lived with an unquenchable thirst to understand the universe and a profound dedication to unraveling its mysteries. He saw science not just as a discipline, but as a lens through which to appreciate the wonder of existence, and nothing brought him greater joy than sharing that wonder with others. Whether through late-night discussions about physics or spirituality, patient hands-on guidance, or mentoring those around him, he had an innate gift for inspiring others to think deeper. Armed with a fiercely independent mind, he was never afraid to question the status quo, challenge comfortable assumptions, and push for a truth beyond the superficial answers. While he held a quiet (and sometimes not so quiet!) uncompromising disdain for the cruelty and ugliness of the world, he endeavored to live as a force for good – loving his family and friends with his whole heart. Daniel thoroughly believed that everyone deserved love and acceptance and he tried to be a friend to the friend-less and a father to the father-less. He found pure freedom on the open road, thriving on road trips, where he and Trish enjoyed countless miles of scenery, counting hawk sightings, and spirited car karaoke duets. His music, his brilliant curiosity, and the wisdom he so generously passed on remain a permanent legacy in the lives of all who knew him.
