Delores J. (Somerick) Kenna

Delores J. Kenna (nee Somerick), 86, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Summa Akron City Hospital.

Delores was born on June 16, 1938 to Mary R. (Zakraysek) and Joseph A. Somerick. She was a1956 graduate of Barberton High School. She was a faithful member of St. Augustine Church where she was a captain on Mondays for the Perpetual Adoration Program, a member of the St. Martha's cleaning team and the Women of Faith. Delores was also a very talented Interior Decorator. She was a very humble person with a heart of gold who would put others before herself. Her smile lit up a room.

Delores married William Kenna on September 28, 1957 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Barberton. They had four children. She was preceded in death by her parents Mary and Joseph; brother Richard Somerick; and son Stephen Kenna; She is survived by her husband of 67 years, William R.; daughters Cynthia (Tim) Carmany and Nicole Kenna; son Gregory (Beverly) Kenna; sister Patricia (Ronald) Gable; grandchildren Kyle, Alexander, Stephanie and Dennis (DJ); her great-grandchildren; and her cats Lucy and Lacy.

The family would like to give a big thanks to the Summa Akron City Hospital ICU team for taking care of Delores.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 204 Sixth St. NW., Barberton. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Silva-Hostetler Funeral Home, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Augustine Endowment Fund or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
