Edith Gray (Mccune) Mackey

April 6, 1933 — April 5, 2016


Edith Gray Mackey, left us all behind April 5, 2016, to start a new adventure in heaven with the Lord and the family and friends who have been waiting for her.

Gray, born April 6, 1933, is was preceded in death by her mom and dad, Melvin and Nellie McCune and her son Bill Mackey.  She leaves behind her husband of 65 years, Jimmie L. Mackey, daughters Erin Rader (Duke), Liz Murray (Brian).  Grandchildren, Tristan Rader (Caitlin), Peter Rader (Sarah Freeman) and Cheyenne Mackey (Austin Conner) & great-granddaughter, Gwendolyn Rader.

Gray loved being a nurse.  She attended nursing school at the age of 50 graduating in1983.  She worked at Akron General and retired in1994.  She loved to sew and spend time with her family.

Gray was the most amazing person.  She was genuinely nice.  She was smart, generous, witty, and fun.  She was truly loved and respected by every soul she touched.  She will be missed greatly.

Calling hours will be held Friday, April 8, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00.p.m. at Emmanuel Christan Assembly, 925 W. Hopocan Ave., Barberton followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Joe Schoblocher officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
