Edna A. (Nagy) Dierker
Edna Audrey Dierker (nee Nagy), 90, passed away peacefully April 2, 2026, at Village of St. Edward at Green.
Edna was born in Barberton to Mary and Andrew Nagy. Alongside her twin brother Ed, she grew up with six additional siblings, feeling their love and support throughout her life.
As a strong advocate for education, she graduated from the College of St. Mary of the Springs and taught in the Barberton School System. She spent happy summers as a counselor at Camp Christopher, and after earning a master’s from The Ohio State University, she was called back to her St. Mary’s alma mater as a counselor. Edna met the love of her life Jim, and they were married in 1964. She was a counselor at Springfield High School and St. Vincent-St. Mary’s High School, and found her career most rewarding as the principal at Our Lady of the Elms High School as a strong supporter of both female and Catholic education. Edna was a member of Nativity of the Lord Jesus Parish. She was loving and inspirational to us all, her strength and will to fight never more apparent than in the last 5 years of her life.
Preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Mary Nagy, brothers Andy (Judy) and Ed (Mariann), Ann Clark (Walter), Caroline Rauch (Ralph), Mary Kopco (Steve), Eleanor Stetz (John), and Fran Kosuth (Paul).
She is survived by her husband Jim, son Jim (Nicole) and daughters Jeanne Thorbjornsen (Jeremy) and Mary (Pete) Bernacki, and grandchildren Peter (Hana) Bernacki, Sam Dierker, Jack Bernacki, Joey Dierker, Noah Yanich, Audrey Thorbjornsen, Jenson Yanich, Charlie Thorbjornsen, and Aiden Yanich, and great grandchild Mason Bernacki along with generations of beloved nieces and nephews.
