Edward "Lefty" C. Sboray

Edward “Lefty” Sboray, 92, went to heaven on May 9, 2022.  Raised in Kenmore, a real Barbertonian and an awesome neighbor to his daughter in Copley; he was known and loved by many people. Edward served in Germany during the Korean War. He returned home to marry his sweetheart, Agnes Hornacek. They were married at Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Barberton where he was active until its closure; serving as CYO Director, Holy Name President, and a Eucharistic Minister and choir member. He was employed as a foreman at the Ohio Brass Company for 38 years. The next 30 years he worked at White House Chicken, a job he really enjoyed. Edward survived by his loving wife, Agnes and daughter Anne Marie and her husband Frederick Warmbrodt of Copley; grandchildren Julie (Paul) Taylor of Copley and Ian (Kelly) Warmbrodt of Columbus; great- granddaughter, “Baby Rae” and his brother John Sboray (Karen) of Kenmore; sister-in-law, Margarette of York, Pa. as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Stephen and Mary Sboray; brothers Joe of York, PA. and Steve (Mary) of Roanoke, VA; his sisters, Florence (Ed) Vatilla of Barberton, Delores (Emil) Skafec of Ashland and Christine (Ray) Smith of York, PA., sisters-in-law Julie (Steve) Pilger and Mary (Steve) Despot; brothers-in-law John (Anne) Hornacek and Joe (Gert) Hornacek all of Barberton. Baseball was Lefty’s dream. He had a strong throw from center field and a good curve ball from the mound. Loving life, he had many interests: an avid hunter, golfer, Barberton and Notre Dame fan.  Later in life he was always present in the Copley bleachers to support his grandchildren’s teams. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 on Tuesday, May 17th at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 1676 S. Cleveland Massillon Rd,  Copley, OH.  Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd, Seville, OH. Calling Hours on Monday, May 16th from 5 to 8 p.m. at the SILVA-HOSTELER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd, West, Barberton. Memorials may be made to Lefty’s favorite charities: Smile Train and St Jude.
