Eileen M. Sanders passed away peacefully February 28th, 2024 in her home of nearly 60 years surrounded by her family. She was born February, 19th 1943 to parents Frank and Jennie Cic in Barberton, Ohio where she lived her entire life. She was a graduate of Barberton High School class of 1961 and for many years that followed, was a member of her class of ‘61 reunion committee. She enjoyed her time as wife, mother, homemaker and caregiver, spending time with family and friends, enjoying crafts, cooking, car shows, dancing, traveling and local trips, such as Enon Valley, Pennsylvania for the annual Slovenefest each July to celebrate her love of ethnic food, culture and the music of Slovenia; and many trips to Myrtle Beach, S.C. with family. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Gene, sons; John, Jeff, Scott (April), grand-daughters; Brittany Sanders, Alexis Westfall and Austin Stamatis (Jason), great grand-daughter Athena and great-grandson Geo. Also survived by sister, Jean Madjerec of Fountain Hills, Arizona; sisters in-law, Barbara Sanders of Barberton; Marilyn (Bernie) Mong of Florence, South Carolina. She was ‘Aunt Eileen’ to eleven nieces and nephews, and many more great nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Proceeded in death by brother, Frank Cic Sr; sister in-law, Patsy Cic; brothers in-law, Duane Sanders and Thomas Madjerec. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church in Barberton and St. Francis de Sales church in Akron. Eileen's Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 4019 Manchester Rd. Akron. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. at the Silva-Hostetler Funeral Home, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton.
