Eugene "Geno" Evans Jr.

Eugene “Geno” Evans Jr., age 96, of Barberton, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2023 at Pebble Creek Health Care Center, following a period of declining health.

He was born on May 10, 1927 in Barberton to the late Eugene and Nellie (Bessermini) Evans, and was a U.S. Army veteran. He married Margaret Slimak on May 14, 1949 and they were happily married for 65 years until her death in 2014.

He was a Supervisor for Firestone Tire and Rubber and Seiberling Rubber Companies. He was a longtime member of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Norton.

Geno loved bowling and golfing with his wife and friends. After she passed, his greatest joys were spending time with his grandchildren and his great grandchildren.

He is survived by his children Richard Evans (Ex-wife Debby) and Nancy (Marty) Arvay; grandchildren Mike (Devon) Evans, Jeff (Holly) Evans, Alyssa (Kevin) Hedrick, Jackie (Drew) Koncz, and Amanda McKee; and 16 great grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Wadsworth Pointe, Brookdale Bath and Pebble Creek for their care of Geno.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
