GREEN---Frank L. Gergye, passed away June 29, 2013 at Pleasant Pointe Assisted Living. Born in Crescent, Ohio in 1924 to Mike and Lena Gergye, he was 88 years old. He lived in Crescent for 19 years. He moved to Barberton with his parents in 1947 and then to Green with his family in 1977. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen of 62 years; his brother Mike; and his sister Barbara. He is survived by his children John of Columbus, OH; Suzan (Mark) of Hartville, OH; Debra (Jeff) of Columbus, OH; grandchildren Steven (Darla), Adam, Rachel and Neal; as well as nieces, nephews and friends. He was a World War II Veteran. For three years he served in the European theater under General Eisenhower and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was a member of First Lutheran Church of Barberton where he served on the Property Committee, was an usher, lay reader and participated on the call committee for now Pastor Swanson. He graduated from Martins Ferry High School in 1942 and earned a Bachelor Degree from the University of Akron by attending classes for nine years of night school made possible only by the love, dedication and encouragement of his wife Helen and the GI bill. In 1989 he retired as a salesman from KMH Food Brokers, Cleveland, OH after 27 years of service. He was recognized and awarded twice as salesperson of the year. Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West. Calling Hours Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery on Wednesday July 3, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. Procession will form at the funeral home at 9:15 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church, 249 Second St. NW., Barberton, OH, 44203.
