BARBERTON---Frank W. Hurst Sr., 85, of Barberton, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2015. He was born in Columbus, Ohio and moved to the Barberton area (Sherman) in 1940.


Frank is survived by his loving wife, Margaretta (Rita) of 65 years; his children, JoAnn Matyasi, Frank (Andy), Karen Lee Hurst, James, John, Jennifer (Chris) Myers, Joel, Jill (Charles) Clark, Joyce (Desra), Jessica, his brothers, Jesse (Myra) and William along with 17 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.


Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Clara, son Jeffrey, his brother Neal, and sisters Dorothy, Florence, and Clara.


Frank was a Navy Veteran and served in the Korean War. Frank retired from Lectromelt Casting Co. in 1991 after 40 years of service. He has enjoyed a number of trips, family vacations, wood working, watching sports, volunteering at church events, working at West End Hardware, home improvements but most of all, Frank was a dedicated and accomplished family man. He was well loved and respected by all.The Hurst Family is especially grateful to the wonderful staff of Altercare of Wadsworth, who cared for Frank every day.


Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2015, at 10:00 A.M. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1263 Shannon Ave., Norton. Fr. Robert Jackson celebrant. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Calling Hours Wednesday from 4-8 P.M. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton and also on Thursday morning at 9 A.M. at the church. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
