F. James (Jim) Hicks, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend gained his heavenly wings on June 20, 2025.
Born in Barberton, OH on April 1,1945 to the late Arthur and Helen (Mercer) Hicks, Jim has been a resident of Doylestown for 48 years. A 1963 graduate of Barberton High School, he served in the U.S. Navy and was a former Aviation Electrician for the U.S. Navy on the USS ENTERPRISE CVAN from August 1963-August 1967. He also studied electronics at the University of Akron and retired from the University of Akron Electronic and Computer Technician after 30 1/2 years.
He was also a member of the Hungarian Club in Barberton and a Master Mason. He spent a lot of time with his friends at his favorite restaurants Wendy's in Norton, Casa Del Mar in Norton and the Village Inn in Barberton. He had his favorite places to shop at were Shop 11AM and Store With a Door Overstock both in the Barberton/Norton area. He had many friends and made them along the way of his life.
Jim is survived by his wife of 55 years Ramona (Yasco) Hicks. His two daughters Michelle (Joe) Klintworth and April (Chris) Tilley. He has three grandchildren that he adored Carsen Klintworth and Brook and Luc Tilley; brother John Hicks and sister-in-law Barb Hicks. Many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers; Arthur W. Hicks, sister-in-law Eleanor Hicks; Robert E. Lee and sister-in-law Jenny Lee.
Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Please meet at the cemetery.
