Frederick E. Shannon

BARBERTON---Frederick E. Shannon, 86, passed away September 24, 2013 at Summa Barberton Hospital.


Fred was born in Barberton where he was a life resident and retired from Munroe Contracting. He was a member of Laborers Local 894 and Coventry/Akron Masonic Lodge 83. Fred was also a proud Marine Corp Veteran having served during WWII. Preceded in death by wife Janet C.; parents Dean and Hazel; brothers Dean Jr. and Paul; sisters Eilean "Peg" and Hazel "Tootie"; and special friend Betty Newberry; Survivors include his daughters Patricia McConnell of Doylestown, Janice (Steve) Stanisa of Chesterland, Gail (Steve) Norfolk of North Canton, Maureen Shannon of Barberton and Kelly (Mike) Kovalchin of Akron' grandchildren Michael, Shane, Jennifer, Casey, Corey, Matthew, Patrick, Nicole, Rachael, Brandon, Maria, Sarah and Rebecca; and great-grandson Peyton.


Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Monday, September 30, 2013 at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. Rev. Fleary Spurlock officiating. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Calling Hours Sunday from 2-5 P.M. at the funeral home.
