George R. Jackson

BARBERTON - George R. Jackson, 99, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2022. George was born in Washington County, PA and was a Barberton resident since 1978 where he retired from the US Post Office after 35 years as a mail carrier. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. George was also a proud WWII Army Veteran. Preceded in death by his wife Ruth; he is survived by his children, Kathleen Jackson, Jean (Jon) Pike, Gregory (Mary), Marjorie (Joe) Golden, Roberta Jackson, John (Linda), Eva Jackson, Cheryl Jackson and Donald; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank the staff on 2 East at Summa Barberton Hospital, Crossroads Hospice and Pleasant View Health Care Center for their care and support of George and his family. George’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 204-6th St. NW., Barberton. Entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton, where prayers will be said on Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Augustine Endowment Fund or the Barberton Salvation Army, 560 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton.
