BARBERTON---George B. Szittai, 85, passed away October 24, 2010 at Manor Care of Barberton. He was born in Barberton where he was a life resident and retired from the Seiberling Tire and Rubber Co. after 38 years. George was an accomplished saxophone player and singer and played at the jam sessions at the Polish-American Club and F.O.P Lodge in Akron for numerous years. He also played with numerous bands over the years and at one point had a band of his own. George was also a proud US Navy Veteran having served in WWII. Preceded in death by his wife Nancy; and six brothers and one sister; Survivors include his daughters Debby (Jim) Kaludy of Barberton and Denise (Bill) Galloway of Massachusetts; grandchildren Mike and Kristen Kaludy and William and Matthew Galloway; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Manor Care of Barberton for their care of George. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 28, 2010, 10 AM at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. Pastor Joe Caruso officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Calling hours Wednesday from 6-9 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, OH 44333.
