Gertrude Ann Weaver (nee Weiand) 94, passed away February 24, 2014. Preceding her in death were her parents and brothers Cletus and Glenn and sisters Marie Miller and Loretta Mackey. Her beloved husband Edgar greeted her at Heaven's gate where they will enjoy each other's company once again. Surviving are Carol (Rey) Soberano, Patricia (Richard) Ferry, Paula (John) McDonough, Donna (Thomas) Ocepek, and beloved son Dennis. Her grandchildren Mark (Sarah), Gina Danek, Christopher and Nichole Ferry, John (Mary), Justin and Emily McDonough, Rachel (James) Bristol and Anthony and Jacob Ocepek will honor her memory. Eleven great-grandchildren also survive as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Gertrude's life of service and dedication to St. Augustine Catholic Church included active memberships in St. Monica Altar Society, charter member of the Perpetual Adoration Program, Holy Hour Captain and charter member of St. Augustine Adult choirs. She also enjoyed the Slovak Chorus and dancing and the friendships she made there. Her charitable works included membership in a mission circle with many dear friends. When her children were young she participated in Girl Scouts and parent teacher activities. Her children and grandchildren enjoyed the "Grandma suppers" on Sundays and just being around this remarkable and loving lady. Her family wishes to thank the staffs of Pleasant Pointe Assisted Living and Pleasant View H. C. C. The last nine years of Mother's life were made richer because of these angels among us. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 204-6th St. NW, Barberton. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours Friday from 5-8 P.M. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton, where prayers will be said Saturday morning at 9:30 A.M. Rosary on Friday at 7:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Augustine Endowment Trust Fund or the charity of one's choice.
