GREEN---Helen E. Gergye, 82, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2011. Born in Crystal Falls, Michigan, she had had been a resident of Barberton and Green most of her life. Helen was a member of First Lutheran Church of Barberton where she was a member of the Choir, Quilting Group, Altar Guild and Lutheran Church Women. She had a "green thumb" and enjoyed her flowers, summer and winter. Helen was also a talented seamstress, sewing a wedding dress for each of her two daughters. She spent many hours "pounding" carpets on a Finnish "homemade" loom. The quality of her work was outstanding. Helen is survived by her husband of 62 years, Frank; son John of Columbus; daughters Suzan (Mark) Farage of Hartville and Debra (Jeff) Aungst of Sunbury, OH; grandchildren Steven (Darla) Farage, Adam Farage, and Rachel and Neil Aungst; and sisters Grace (Ruben) Nayback, Ruth Fjeld and Marlene (Herb) Gerbrick. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at 12:30 P.M. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. Pastor Erik Swanson officiating. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Calling Hours Tuesday from 5-7 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church of Barberton, 249 Second St., Barberton, OH, 44203.
