BARBERTON---Helen Sekerak, 94, passed away June 23, 2014 at Summa Barberton Hospital.
Born in Homer City, PA, Helen was an area resident all her life. She was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church where she was active in the Rosary Society. She was a spunky hunky and a hard working woman who cleaned her own spouting and mowed her own lawn until she was 89 and drove her car till the end. She could always come back with a smart remark and had a wonderful loving heart.
Preceded in death by her husband Leonard; parents Ignac and Mary; brothers John, Andrew and Steven Zamesko and Victor, Michael and Joseph Sokolosky; and sisters Anna Zema and Pauline Sokolosky. She is survived by her daughter Judith (Woody) Alberts; son James; granddaughter Julie (Orlando) Corona; great-grandchildren Christian and Armani; sister-in-law Sally Rajniak; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; special cousin Marie Tutoki; and special neighbor Kathy Huth.
Burial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 1051 E. Robinson Ave., Barberton. Rev. Fr. Miron Kerel-Kmec officiating. Interment at St. Nicholas Cemetery. Calling Hours Friday from 5-8 P.M. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. Parastas Service at 7:15 P.M. Helen's body will also lie in state on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
