Iris "Jackie" (Newsome) Martz

Iris “Jackie” Martz (Newsome) 88, went to be with the Lord February 27, 2022. She was the last of 13 children to Frank and Minnie Newsome of Richwood, WV.

Jackie lived in Akron and surrounding area for years. She loved her family and her dog Harley very much. Jackie was a jack of all trades. She worked in the printing room at a hospital creating menu’s, volunteered her time advocating for children that had cleft lip and palate. She went back to school to become a hairdresser and owned her own salon. Later in life she found her calling being a florist and won multiple competitions. She loved to paint and was always creating something.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles (Larry) Martz and her son Russell Gilbert. Jackie will be missed by her son Thomas (Judy) Gilbert, Daughter Susan (Brian) Ladd and Granddaughter Rebecca (Mani) Kannan.
