James I. Hart II, 78, of New Franklin, OH, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 9, 2024, after battling Alzheimers Disease for the past several years. Jim was born in Kilmarnock, Scotland to Raymond and Charlotte ("Lottie") Hart. He came to the U.S. when only a few months old. He proudly served in the Air Force from 1964-1967 and his favorite hobbies were baseball and golf. After retiring from Babcock & Wilcox with 30 year of service, he enjoyed spending time with his wife Dorothy and working outside at his home. He was a member of the Columbia United Church of Christ in Barberton, where he often volunteered many hours.
Jim leaves behind his wife, Dorothy Hart (nee Arnold), his daughter, Tina Hart of Jacksonville, FL, step-son Fred Schmittle of Akron, step-daughter Faye Tackett of Norton, step-daughter Melissa Kousagan of Akron, sister, Paula Hughes, nephew, Jonathan Hughes and niece Michelle Hughes all of Barberton, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and another great grandchild on the way, along with a host of loving relatives and friends.
Jim's Memorial Service will be held Thursday, July 25, 11:00 a.m., at Columbia United Church of Christ, 978 Wooster Road W., Barberton, OH.
