James R. Tomer

BARBERTON---James Rick Tomer, 62, passed away peacefully at the Hospice Care Center on December 11, 2010. Born in Akron he was a Norton/Barberton resident all his life where he graduated from Norton High School, attended the University of Akron and the Hower Vocational School. Jim worked at Logan Machine for 21 years and enjoyed photography and camping. Preceded in death by his father James M.; Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years Kathy A.; son Brian (Annette) Tomer; daughters Sarah and Emily Tomer; granddaughters Erica and Allison; mother Anna Rae; sister Cheryl Short; and nephew Dana Short. The family wishes to thank Dr. Andrew Haas Jr., the Transitional Care Unit Staff at Summa Barberton Hospital for their loving care during Jim's extended stay and the nurses and staff of VNS Hospice. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, December 15, 2010, 10 AM at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. Fr. Robert Jackson officiating. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours Tuesday from 5-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., or The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
