BARBERTON---Jean E. Gardner (Sue) was born to Jim and Grace Hargis in Chicago, IL, and grew up as a Navy brat living all over North America, attending to 13 schools in nine years. Mom died peacefully in her own home and on her own terms, surrounded by several family members. Those who were far away at the time were close in our hearts and everyone had the opportunity to visit and spend quality time with her during her final days. Mom enjoyed a wonderful life with her true sweetheart and our dad, Jerry, living for a time in Hawaii and eventually enjoying winter vacations every year in Florida. Mom dedicated her life to her family and raising her children to have meaningful and productive lives. She was a lifelong member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church and was for many years an active volunteer at Barberton Citizens Hospital. Her legacy includes daughter Janice Everist (Dick) Arlington, WA, Mark G. (Linda) of Aurora, OH, Thomas of Denver, CO and John (Chris) of Naples, FL; eight grandchildren, Sarah Kummer (Adam), Eric (Betsy), Kendra, John, Elizabeth Lawson (Marc), Allison, Noah and Grace; and four great-grandchildren, Audrey, Kayden, Avalon and Raquel. We thank everyone at Caring Seniors for keeping mom comfortable and free from pain to the very end. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Visiting Nurse Hospice Care. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 4, 2012, 10 A.M. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 204-6th St. NW, Barberton. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 6 to 8 P.M. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton, where prayers will be said at 9:30 A.M. Saturday.
