Jerry L. Farrar

Jerry Farrar, 91, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026. He was born July 1, 1935 in Millersburg, OH to Lillian and George Farrar. He graduated from Barberton High School. Jerry was a proud Marine, serving during the Korean War, and was stationed at Twenty Nine Palms, CA. He had been employed by Topps Vending and retired from Akron Paint and Varnish. He then became a crossing guard for Barberton Public Schools.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife and mother of his children, Jean (nee Andrews); and his second wife, Tina (nee Behrens).

He is survived by his children, Julie (Dwayne) Joyner and John (Mona) Farrar; grandchildren Michael Joyner, Rachel Hawkes, Ronny Martinez, Rebecca Farrar, Allisha Robins, and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Davis and brother, Jim Farrar and their children.

Jerry enjoyed camping at Loyal Lake Park for many years. He was on bowling leagues for at least 30 years. He was an avid hiker of the Summit County Metroparks, especially during their hiking sprees. He loved watching football and baseball and was an avid Cleveland Indians Fan!

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private burial will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
