Jerry K. Fassnacht

Jerry Kenneth Fassnacht, 83, passed away Friday September 25, 2026 in the presence of his loved ones.

He was born on July 31, 1943, in Barberton, Ohio, to parents Gerald Thomas and June Marie Fassnacht.

Jerry graduated from Norton High School class of ‘61. He attended Kent State University graduating in 1965, from there he entered the Army as a 2nd Lt. He served 2 1/2 years at Fort McClellen where he became a captain. After the Army he had a teaching job waiting for him in Barberton Ohio. He began teaching Math at Portage Jr. High School in 1968. Jerry taught for over 30 years in the Barberton school district, retiring in 1998.

Jerry met the love of his life Kathryn Ann Weaver through mutual friends and their joy of bowling. During their 31 years of marriage they enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. Kay passed away in 2012. We take comfort knowing he is reunited with her.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Kathryn, parents Gerald and June, brothers James and Roy. He is survived by his stepdaughter, Denise (Joel) Hauenstein, stepson, Shaun (Mary) Spencer; step grandchildren Bryson and Gryffin Hauenstein, Joshua Spencer, Justin (Sidney) Spencer; step great grandchildren Samuel and Jesiah Spencer.

Jerry's Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at the Silva-Hostetler Funeral Home, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. Private burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 3-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Capital City Hospice in Columbus, Ohio.
