Johanna M. Gonsiewski

BARBERTON---Johanna M. Gonsiewski, 96, passed away November 25, 2010 at Sterling House of Barberton.

Born in Czechoslovakia, she had been a Barberton resident all of her life where she was a member of the former S.S. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church and currently a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Norton. Johanna was a member of St. Anne's Society, the Sokol Club and the Altar and Rosary Society.


Preceded in death by her husband Joseph; sister Ann Kulcsar; and brother Andrew Sefranko; Survivors include her son Joseph (Marilyn) Gonsiewski of Barberton; daughter Joann (Leslie) Jones of South Carolina; grandchildren Susan Schrier, Carol White, Bob Gonsiewski, Debbie Bird, Mike Jones and Vicki Moore; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and sisters Rosemary Pintur and Hermina Sefranko both of Barberton.


The family would like to thank the staff at Alterra Sterling House of Barberton and Odyssey Hospice for their care of Johanna.


Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 A.M. on Monday, November 29, 2010, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours Sunday from 3-5 PM at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton, where prayers will be said Monday morning at 9:30 AM.
