BARBERTON -- John Stephen Deock, 63, passed away February 2, 2010. John was born in Barberton where he was a life resident and worked at Kroger's Grocery. He was a graduate of Barberton High School and member of the former Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church and currently a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and also was the former Director of the Young Blind Adult Group at the Akron Blind Center. Preceded in death by his parents, John and Bridget, John's passion in life was his beloved Pamela J. Benner of Barberton; his daughter, Michelle Marie and her husband Paul R. Benvie of Barberton; sister, Betty Jean Naswadi of Akron; his niece, Donna and her husband Rodney Fruge and their children Abbey and Matthew of Louisiana; his warm family of uncles, aunt, cousins and loving friends, especially his uncle, Pete Tholt. John had a unique ability to make people smile. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 6, 2010, 10 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1263 Shannon Ave., Norton, Rev. Robert Jackson celebrant. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling hours Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the Barberton Salvation Army.
