BARBERTON---John T. Genet, 93, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2014 at Pleasant View Health Care Center. John was born in Barberton where he was a life resident. He retired from P.P.G. Industries after 40 years of service. John was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church where he was active in the Holy Hour Program, Holy Name Society, and served as a Eucharistic minister and Altar Server for many years. John was also a member of Knights of Columbus #1617, the C.A.A., Foreman's Club and also in the Three C's. He also helped with the Barberton Soup Kitchen. John was a proud Navy Veteran having served during WWII. Preceded in death by his son-in-law Robert Dudley; brothers Richard, Norman and Donald; and sister Joann Tonovitz; Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years, Regina "Jean"; daughters Rebecca (Frank) Yurchiak, Dianne (John) Boyle, Maureen Dudley, Mary (William) Moutschka and Barbara (David) Moss; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; brother Joe (Margaret) Genet; and sisters Felicia Turner and Margaret Genet. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 204-6th St. NW., Barberton. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours Wednesday from 5-8 P.M. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton, where prayers will be said Thursday morning at 9:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or Parkinson's Foundation.
