John "Jack" K. Lohan

NORTON---John (Jack) K. Lohan, 77, passed away unexpectedly August 17, 2021.

Jack was born January 3, 1944 in Wheeling, WV to John J. and Elinor J. Lohan.

He was preceded in death by parents, John J. and Elinor J. and daughter-in-law, Sharon Lohan. Jack is survived by Karen, his loving wife of 55 years. Children, Tracie (Ric) SirLouis and John Lohan.  Brother, William (Stephanie) Lohan. Grandchildren, Katie (Michael) Kelley, Sarah SirLouis, Erica Lohan and Libby Lohan. Great-Grandchild, Porter. Nephew, Brad (Angela) Lohan. Nieces, Dina (Gipp) McConnell, Colleen (Chris) Moore, Bridgett (Logan) Mullins and Amie (Joe) Clark.

Jack attended Wheeling Central and St. Vincent High School and was a 1966 graduate of Akron University with a degree in Business Management.

He enjoyed playing golf, but more importantly enjoyed spending time with his family who meant so much to him.

Jack was passionate about his Faith.  He was an active member of his Faith community, St. Augustine Parish (Barberton), for 43 years.  During which he was President of Parish Council, President of the St. Vincent De Paul Society, Lay Minister, Lector and PSR Teacher. He was also a faithful participant in the Eucharistic Holy Hour program.

He was an avid sports fan and a great athlete in his youth excelling at baseball, throwing a no-hitter (after his brother got the starting pitcher for that game sick on green apples) and hitting the first home run over the scoreboard the new at the time Little League stadium on Belle Isle (Wheeling Island).

He passed on his passion for the game as coach of many of his kids’ Little League and Softball teams. He even came out of “retirement” to coach the softball teams of his granddaughters.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the Norton EMS first responders and the compassionate staff at Barberton Summa Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 23, 2021 at St. Augustine Catholic, 204 Sixth St. NW., Barberton. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours Sunday, August 22, 2021 from 3-6 p.m. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton where prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. on Monday morning.
