John Francis Logsdon, age 63, born July 10, 1963, passed away unexpectedly on July 12, 2026. Foremost, John loved his family. His wife, Jennifer, daughter, Sophia, and son, Jack, were his world. He was so proud of all of them.

John served six years in the United States Marine Corp. He would tell you that the government trained him to kill, and we would laugh because he was trained to predict the weather—Semper Fi. He excelled in a lifelong career in hospitality. “My pleasure” was always his response when asked to do something. Wow could John pull off an event! Whether it was a holiday celebration in their home or formal gala at the hotel, his attention to detail was impeccable. This culminated in his most recent endeavor. John and his business partner, neighbor, and friend, Steve Baker, joined forces to open Dockside Grille PLX. It was a dream realized for John and a great accomplishment for both. John was extremely proud of the team they were building at Dockside Grille. Watching John flourish in the past three months was an enormous blessing to his entire family. He was no longer working, just having fun.

When not working, John enjoyed an afternoon or evening on his patio, always with a cigar in hand. It would be great if Notre Dame or Duke were playing. He would be surrounded by family and friends, entertaining, and hollering at the TV (cheering on his team of choice or making sure the officials knew they were making lousy calls).

John is survived by his beloved Jen (Bastian), children Sophia and Jack, who were the light of his world. He is also survived by his mother, Diana, sisters Julie (Diane), Nora, and Sue. John also leaves his nieces and nephew who will miss their Uncle John. He was preceded in death by his father, Tom, and his brother, Andy. In addition, John leaves “his guys”, numerous wonderful friends and a host of kids that he loved like his own. He will be remembered by his business associates, including team Dockside - “The Grillers” as he would say.

John’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 204 Sixth St. NW., Barberton. Calling Hours will be held on Friday, July 17th from 4-7 p.m. at the Silva-Hostetler Funeral Home, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. Private Burial will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Green Schools Foundation, noting John Logsdon Scholarship. P.O. Box 104 Green, Ohio 44232
