John D. Rogers
BARBERTON---John D. Rogers, 72, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2011.
Born in Akron to Howard Rogers and Ardea Smith, he was an area resident all his life. He joined the Air Force in 1955 and served until 1959. He worked for Pan America Airlines from 1959 to 1970 where he started as a mechanic and became a flight inspector. He went on to work for Brunswick Lanes in 1970 and worked in several bowling centers in northeast Ohio. He retired from Riviera Lanes after 32 years and was considered one of the best mechanics on the PBA Tour in the 1970's - 1980's.
Preceded in death by his parents; brothers Bob, Ken and Jog; Survivors include his children Kenny Rogers, Theresa Pfahler, Danny Rogers, Cody Rogers, Charlie Rogers and Jenny Rogers; niece Rosemary Rogers; nephew Robert Rogers; grandchildren Michael Pfahler, Steven Rogers, Melody Rogers, Ethan Shreffler, Peyton Coffee, Maci Coffee and Bradley Maxwell.
