Barberton

John D. Ross, 65, passed away January 8, 2025. He went peacefully in his home after a long 10-year battle of 3 different cancers. John was born in Barberton where he was a life resident.

Preceded in death by his parents Hardin and Madolyn Ross and his beloved dog Taco. He is survived by his loving ex-wife Diane Ross; children Amanda Vanhorn and Melissa Williams; five grandchildren Tristin and Logan Vanhorn, Alaina and Alisha Williams and Christopher Matthews; His best dog friend Beanie; Brothers Michael, Marvin and Keith Ross; Sisters Carolyn Adams and Judy Powers. He was the 5th of 6 children.

He had factory jobs and construction jobs where he found his passion working with his hands to fix or build anything. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He loved to tell stories of growing up in Barberton.

He was stubborn and hardheaded with a heart as big as his personality and would do anything he could for his family and friends.

John's Calling Hours will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 4-5 p.m. at the Silva-Hostetler Funeral Home, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. Memorial Service to follow at 5:00 p.m.
