NORTON---John Joseph Satina, 90, passed away March 14, 2010 after a short illness. John was born in Barberton and had been a Barberton-Norton resident all his life where he retired from Ohio Brass in 1983. He was a member of the former S.S. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church and currently a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. He was the treasurer for many years for First Slovak Wreath of the Free Eagle, member of the Holy Name Society and American Legion Post 407and also the Skypark Flying Community since 1970. His hobbies included being a Gentleman Farmer and Gardner. John was also a proud Army Air Force Radio Operator and Gunner having served during WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Anna Mae; his parents Ignatius and Mary; sisters Mary Wrobel and Helen Okolish; and brother Joseph Satina. Survivors include his daughter Pat (Jim) Woodford of Doylestown; sons Paul (Vada) and David all of Norton; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Frances Satina of Cuyahoga Falls. The family would like to thank the nurses at Summa Barberton Hospital and Doylestown Health Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday March 17, 2010, 10 AM at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1263 Shannon Ave., Norton. Rev. Robert Jackson celebrant. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling hours Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton, where prayers will be said Wednesday morning at 9:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Prince of Peace Church or the Charity of One's Choice.
