BARBERTON---John P. Werner Sr., 84, passed away March 7, 2012. John was born in Barberton where he was a life resident and Graduate of the University of Akron. While at Akron he was a member of TKE and the U of A Band. He worked as a stockbroker at Paine Webber Jackson and Curtis and moved to Firestone Bank in 1972, retiring from Bank One in 1993. He became a Chartered Financial Analyst in 1981. John was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church where he was a member of the Holy Name Society, Finance Committee, Catholic Social Services, Eucharistic Minister and Knights of Columbus Council 1617. He also served as a First Lieutenant in the Korean War. Preceded in death by parents William A. and Nora Werner; brothers Jerome, Francis and Lawrence; and sisters Agnes, Mary, and Emmaline; He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Eleanor; children Greg (Diane), John Jr., Anne (Daniel) Walsh and Janine Werner: grandsons Michael, Matthew, Kevin, and David and nephew Bob (Dot) Waickman. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 12, 2012, 10:00 A.M. at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 4022 Johnson Rd., Norton. Fr. James Maloney celebrant. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours Sunday from 3-5 P.M. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton, where prayers will be said Monday morning at 9:30 A.M. Rosary will be said Sunday at 4:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers your asked to make a contribution to St. Andrew Catholic Church.
