John T. Zimmer

BARBERTON---John T. Zimmer, 83, passed away November 22, 2013 at Pleasant View Health Care Center. John was born in Akron and was a life resident of the area where he retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. after 40 plus years of service as an electrician. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and the Corsair Model Airplane Flying Group. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, skiing, bicycle riding and hiking. John was an accomplished artist and loved to travel. John also attended many classic car shows in the area. Preceded in death by his parents Chris and Mary; and brother Joseph; Survivors include his brother Fred (Jeanne) of Barberton; sister Joanne (Allan) Robinson of Wadsworth; sister-in-law Barbara Zimmer of Barberton; and nephews Mark (Liz) and Patrick Zimmer. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, November 25, 2013 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1263 Shannon Ave., Norton. Fr. Robert Jackson celebrant. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours Sunday from 4-7 P.M. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton, where prayers will be said Monday morning at 9:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.
