Joseph S. Burza Sr.

Joseph S. Burza Sr, age 78, of North Fort Myers, FL, passed away on May 1st.

He was born on May 20th, 1947, in Barberton, OH to Samuel and Bernadine Burza. He graduated from Barberton High School in 1965 and attended Stark State College.

Joe served in the United States Army, was a reserve officer for the Barberton Police Department and later worked as a Project Manager for Schneider Electric (Square D). He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, fast cars, and storytelling.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Robert, Philip and brother-in-law Daniel Roxbury. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Rebecca J. (Roxbury), Son Joseph S. Jr., Sisters Mary (Stanley) Chrostowski, Rose (Thomas) Fritsch, and Brother James (Floryn) Burza, Sisters-in-law Donna (Daniel) Roxbury, and Naomi (Kim) Baldwin, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday, May 12th, 2026, from 10am -12pm at Silva-Hostetler Funeral Home, 1199 Wooster Rd. W. Barberton, OH 44203. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 204 Sixth St. NW., Barberton, at 12:30pm. Internment will immediately follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or Golden Retriever Rescue of Southwest Florida (GRRSWF).
