Joseph A. Petruska, 93, passed from this life peacefully on October 11, 2010 at the Little Sisters of the Poor Nursing Home in Cleveland. Joe had a deep devotion for the Blessed Mother and the rosary. He organized the monthly Rosary for Peace throughout the Akron-Barberton area churches for many years. He touched many people's lives during his years as a parishioner at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Barberton prior to moving to Cleveland. He was a member of the St. Jude Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order, Holy Name Society, American Legion Post #271, and K of C Council #1617. Joe was also a proud Army Air Corp veteran having served during WWII. Preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters; Survivors include first cousin Irene Starinki; sister-in-law Lavina Petruska and many nieces and nephews. Joe will be deeply missed by everyone at Little Sisters. Special friends Mary and Martha were honored to have had Joe in their lives. The family wishes to express their gratitude to all his friends at the nursing home; Fr. Horley, the Sisters and staff for their tender care these past ten years. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 15, 2010, 11:00 A.M. at Little Sisters of the Poor, 4291 Richmond Rd., Warrensville Heights, OH, Fr. Horley celebrant. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Akron, OH. Calling Hours Thursday 5-7 P.M. at Little Sisters of the Poor. Memorials may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor.
