BARBERTON---Joseph B. Shabeck, 90, passed away June 10, 2011 at Summa Barberton Hospital. Born in Barberton, Joe moved back 8 years ago after spending most of his life in Washington D.C. where he worked for the U.S. Dept. of Labor as an accountant retiring after 43 years of service. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, the Rosary Society at the Sterling House, volunteered for Catholic Charities in Washington D.C. as well as volunteering for numerous activities through the churches he attended, loved sports and was a perfectionist. Joe was loved by all he met and would help anybody. Joe was also a proud Air Force Veteran having served during WWII. Preceded in death by brothers Jack, Anthony, Frank and Fredrick "Mickey"; Survivors include his sister Frances Shabeck; nephew Dennis (Linda) Shabeck; nieces Karla (Paul) Sorrentino and Sandra Bertolini (FiancAC. Joe) and sister-in-law Mary (Jack) Ebaugh. The family wishes to thank all of the doctors, staff and employees of Summa Barberton Hospital and the Sterling House for their excellent care of Joe.


Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday June, 17, 2011, 10 A.M., at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Fr. Bill Smith and Fr. Robert Jackson concelebrants. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours Thursday 6-8 P.M. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton, where prayers will be said Friday at 9:30. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Augustine School.
